Participated in our first event “Get Fit Kansas City” on Saturday, January 16th. It was such an amazing and spiritual event. I felt many mixed emotions. I felt excited, nervous, proud, and encouraged. I made a mental list of all the things I needed to be prepared for the big day: products—check, display banner-check, bags—check, samples of products-check, credit card payment reader—check, marketing materials-check, last but not least—Body By Bola T-shirts-check. Olay, the morning of the 16th had arrived. My son and I woke up early and ate breakfast and discussed the game plan for the day.
Upon arrival, I felt a great sense of peace. I saw the organizers of the event and they greeted me with warm smiles and hugs. This instantly, put me at ease. I was provided with the layout of the space and designated table to set up my products. Worked out a display arrangement the night before—so I was feeling “on point”. My mother and I had to do a few minor adjustments to the display signs but otherwise everything was going according to plan. Now, I am a high energy person, bubbly personality, but can be shy as well. Inside I was feeling butterflies but outwardly appeared calm, cool, and collected. Finally, it was time for the event to begin. I was overjoyed when it opened with Prayer and Libation. To my astonishment, the libation and prayer was done in Yoruba. Sister Osunye did a beautiful job explaining the meaning and concept of libation as well as the significance of spirituality in relationship to the event. Oh my, my soul was dancing. I am so pleased so share that I had 8 customers purchase my products. The gratitude that I felt in that moment—still resonates today. I am honored that I was invited to participate in the 1st Annual Health and Wellness Expo. The feedback from customers and others who sampled our body moisturizers was OUTSTANDING!!!! The Rosemary, Basil, Lime Lip Locked Balm was a customer favorite as well as Essence of Yemoja. Lesson learned for this event. Always bring cash for change (I was so focused on the credit card payment square—totally forgot to bring cash) and make sure the credit card reader is working before the event!!! All and all, I think the first evet was a huge SUCCESS!!!
